Travel Made Simple: What a Travel Advisor Actually Does

You know the feeling. You decide to take the trip, and within an hour you have fourteen tabs open, three hotels that all look the same, a review you are not sure you can trust, and a nagging suspicion that whatever you finally book, you will overpay for it. The trip has not started and you are already tired.

That is the exact moment Nadège Normil built her business around.

Nadège is the founder of On Pointe Travel, a bespoke travel agency, and she holds the travel seat at BNI Coastal Connections. She has been in business three years, she is a school counselor, she lives in North Babylon, she teaches Zumba and Aqua Zumba, and yes, she used to work on the Ricki Lake Show. For her ten minute feature she skipped the brochure and explained something most people have never had spelled out for them: what a travel advisor actually does, and why it costs you nothing extra to use one.

    Travel made simple

Her whole pitch fits in three words, and she was careful about what they mean.

"My mission is just to make travel simple. And when I say simple, I don't mean simple as basic, but simple as effortless for you."
    • You bring the vision. Where you want to go, roughly when, and how you like to travel.
    • She brings the machinery. The research, the logistics, and the relationships behind the scenes.
    • You show up. That is the entire job description on your end.
"You tell me your vision and I'll handle the research, the logistics, and the relationship behind the scenes."

The part you cannot get on a booking site

This is the piece the room reacted to. Nadège is part of the Fora Travel network and holds a Virtuoso membership, which is a travel consortium. That is not a badge on a website. It is access.

    • Free room upgrades when they are available
    • Resort credits
    • Early check-in and late check-out
    • Amenities that quietly turn a good trip into a great one

And the punchline: those perks usually cost you nothing extra.

"The kind of relationship that takes years to build and years to earn. So because I am part of the Fora Travel Network and I hold a Virtuoso membership, I have access to perks you can't get booking on your own."

There is a second layer to it that matters more than the upgrades. When something goes sideways at 11pm in a country where you do not speak the language, you are not on hold with a call center.

"I'm that one phone call, that one call away, and it's not a call center."

    What she actually books

Members sometimes assume a travel advisor means flights and a hotel. Her travel planning services are considerably wider than that.

    • Hotels — boutique stays through luxury resorts, and if she books it, there is usually a perk attached.
    • [Cruises](https://www.onpointetravel.net/cruises) — ocean views, all-inclusive options, solo travelers, couples, multi-gen families, retirees, church groups, family reunions, civic organizations and corporate incentive groups.
    • Custom trips — personalized itineraries built around your travel style, interests and budget. This is where the bucket-list trip you keep not booking finally gets booked.
    • Tours and experiences — the curated local stuff, not the bus tour.
    • Villas — space, privacy, and for milestone birthdays, anniversaries and honeymoons, often better value than separate hotel rooms.
    • Transfers — airport transfers and private drivers so the seams between the flight, the hotel and the first dinner disappear.
    • [Disney](https://www.onpointetravel.net/disney), getaways and flights — last-minute domestic escapes through around-the-world adventures.

Her favorite category is the one that sounds smallest.

"A lot of my clients like to live like a local. Whether it's sandal making in Greece, or cooking with a Nona making pasta in Florence, or perfume making in Istanbul, or pairing you up with a pastry chef in Paris to make the perfect croissant."

    The villa trick

Ask her about a big family trip and she will usually run the villa math for you. Two families booking two sets of rooms at a resort adds up fast. A villa splits differently, and it comes with an option most people do not know exists.

Depending on the location, she can arrange a private chef and a driver — so it is a home away from home without the part where you cook and clean on your own vacation. That question came up live in the room, from a member pricing a Cancún trip for two families, and she offered to model both options side by side.

Flights, and the payment plan nobody knows about

She does not lead with flights, but she is partnered with a flight consolidator, and this was the single most useful thing said all night.

Consolidators work directly with airlines and can sell non-published fares, which are sometimes cheaper depending on timing. More importantly, they can break the fare up.

"If you don't have $2,500 to pay up front, you put a small deposit, usually about 30% of that fare, and over time they allow you to pay it off. Weekly or biweekly, with no interest. And once you're done paying it, that's it, you're on your flight."

There is a version of this for the trip itself too. Chapter members have used it: put down a deposit, pay over time, and have the whole trip settled 30 to 60 days before wheels up.

How far ahead you actually need to book

The question every member wanted answered. Her rule of thumb, for the destinations everyone is chasing right now — Italy, Greece, Portugal, Japan:

"I would say anywhere between 9 to 12 months, but really at 12 months I would start working on those trips, because they fill up very quickly."

And the corollary, said plainly: you will spend a lot more money on a last-minute trip.

    What she left us with

Nadège closed with the line she runs her business on — I plan, you pack, let's go — and an offer that costs nothing to take her up on. If there is a trip you have been circling for years, she will start with a complimentary 20-minute call about what you actually want out of it. You can browse her luxury travel destinations first, or just book a discovery call and talk it through.

The best part, from a chapter standpoint, is how referable it is. Everyone knows someone with a wedding abroad, a milestone anniversary, a family reunion, or a bucket-list trip they have been putting off for a decade. That is a referral, and it is one Nadège can act on the same week.
